Blaze Riorden is the goalie for Albany, and despite his lightning fast name, he’s a big-boned fella who is usually stuck between the pipes so he doesn’t get to show off his fleet-footed offensive skills that often. However the lack of time prompted Blaze to put on the afterburners for this ridiculous buzzer-beating goal.
In the opening round of the NCAA tournament against Cornell, big man Blaze would not be denied. The strapping young buck marched down the entire field. He showed some fancy footwork with a scintillating spin move, and juked several defenders on his way to this remarkable goal with only seconds left in the third quarter. It was just the second goal of Riorden’s career, but one could not ask for a better goal.
Albany would go on to win the game by a score of 19-10 and will now face either Notre Dame or Towson next Saturday.
