Alex Rodriguez has lived a pretty darn good life himself if we do say so ourselves.

Sure, the 48-year-old may never wind up in the Baseball Hall of Fame after his suspension for steroid use.

But that doesn’t mean he didn’t have a remarkable career.

The man they call A-Rod won three American League MVP awards, made 14 all-star game appearances, won the 2009 World Series with the New York Yankees and, oh, made nearly $500 million combined according to Baseball Reference.

Add that to the fact that he also dated music superstar Jennifer Lopez and you have a life well lived. But there’s also still plenty in front of him.

Rodriguez is currently an analyst for MLB on FOX and his contract is coming up for renew. The network doesn’t want to lose his services, and Alex Wepen of The Hollywood Reporter states it’s going above and beyond not to do so.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the 14-time MLB all star and World Series champion is closing in on a contract extension with Fox Sports, a deal that if completed will keep him working big MLB games for Fox for years to come,” Werpin states.

Wepin reports that the deal is expected to be longer than three years and make him exclusive to FOX. Rodriguez also currently works for ESPN as part of its “KayRod” broadcast with Michael Kay.

“Terms of the new Fox deal were not immediately clear, though it is believed to be the most lucrative deal yet for an MLB analyst,” Werpin continued.

As if this guy needed anymore to go right for him.

Rodriguez is a polarizing figure in the baseball world and the broadcasting world. Some believe he was one of the greatest to ever play the game. Others feel he’s simply a cheat. While opinions on his analysis are typically mixed.

Regardless, FOX sure seems he’s worth keeping. And it’s willing to pay through the nose to do so.
