Neither Jake Guarnera nor Andrew Sprague committed to Texas. It sounds like both offensive linemen decided to stay at Michigan after a dinner with Arch Manning.

The allure of blocking for the potential No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft was not enough to get them to leave Ann Arbor.

Before we go any further here, I must note that I do not know exactly which college football players snubbed the Longhorns after they shared a meal with Manning. I am making an assumption based on context clues. Let’s take a look!

Arch Manning shared a meal with offensive linemen.

This story first came to light during the spring practice period on Thursday. Manning was asked about his newest pass-catcher, Cam Coleman. The former five-star recruit entered the transfer portal in December after two seasons at Auburn. He ultimately committed to Texas.

Arch Manning gave fellow wide receiver Ryan Wingo full credit for making that happen. He was unable to spend a lot of time with Coleman during his visit to Austin because he was preoccupied.

The starting quarterback for the Longhorns had dinner with two potential pocket protectors. However, the offensive lineman with whom he dined on that same day Coleman was in town did not commit.

Which college football transfers snubbed Texas after dinner?

Lets try to connect the dots. It seems like the answer to that question is pretty easy to figure out.

Cam Coleman was in Austin for his transfer portal visit on Saturday, Jan. 3 and Sunday, Jan. 4. That was around the same time that Michigan offensive linemen Jake Guarnera and Andrew Sprague entered the transfer portal in wake of the whole Sherrone Moore scandal. They were both All-Big Ten selections.

It seemed like they were both trending toward Texas.

There were multiple reports that the Longhorns got them on campus for a visit. That would’ve been on the same weekend as Coleman so it would make sense that Arch Manning was eating with the two big uglies at the same time that Wingo was working to recruit his positional counterpart.

But neither of the Wolverines committed!

Guarnera was the first to announce his return to Michigan. Sprague announced the next day. They were both excited about the hire of Kyle Whittingham. Fair enough. That’s just the way it goes.

But 1 + 1 typically equals 2…

It sounds like the Michigan offensive linemen were the ones who ate with Manning on the same weekend as Coleman and did not commit to Texas. Guarnera and Sprague both withdrew from the transfer portal just a few days later.
