Sunday night as the Seattle Seahawks held a precarious 34 to 31 lead with less than two minutes to play against the Arizona Cardinals, three women were holding their breath as they mere moments from splitting the $1 million prize in the Fox Bet Super 6.

The free FoxBet Super 6 contest involves picking the winner of six NFL games and doing it within a certain margin of victory. No easy task, as proven by the fact that these three women were the only people out of the 1.1 million who entered the contest on Sunday that even had any chance to win going into that night’s final game.

Also, these three women were not regular sports bettors, did not look at the spreads of the games, and this was the first time they all had played FoxBet Super 6. (Which explains why they almost won, of course.)

The ladies had all gone 5-for-5 heading into the Sunday night game, and all three also had Seattle winning by a margin of 1 to 3 points over Arizona.

It wasn’t until Christian Kirk caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Kyler Murray that the pressure really began to balloon as the score at that point became Seattle 34, Arizona 31. They just needed the Seahawks to run out the clock and the $1 million prize would be theirs.

With 1:42 left in the game, Arizona was out of time outs and Seattle had to get just two yards on third down and the game was essentially over.

Carlos Hyde takes the handoff from Russell Wilson, and gets stuffed.

Now Seattle just has to hold the Cardinals after a punt. They can’t. Arizona ties it up at 34. But there’s still hope! If Seattle can win by three in overtime the ladies are still golden.

Back on the roller coaster, in overtime Wilson hits D.K. Metcalf for what appears to be a 48-yard touchdown pass, ending their hopes of $1 million. But it gets called back for offensive holding.

On the very next play. Wilson’s pass to Tyler Lockett gets picked off by Isaiah Simmons. Cardinals ball at the Seattle 49-yard line.

Six plays later, with just 15 seconds left in overtime, Zane Gonzalez connects on a 48-yard field goal to give the Carinals the win and ending the women’s hopes of $1 million.

As a consolation prize, each woman was awarded $10,000 from FoxBet. Nice prize, but certainly a far cry from splitting $1 million three ways.

After all was said and done, one of the women, Kim Rowbotham, told the Action Network, “I’m a Browns fan. I’m used to this.”
