The Arizona State baseball program is getting ready for Halloween a little early this season. The team played a costume scrimmage this week, leading to some absolutely epic scenes on the diamond. One video in particular is now going viral.

A player seen hustling down the line to beat out an infield single dressed in a life-sized Monsters, Inc. outfit might’ve been the funniest moment of the action.

Sully wasn’t the only participant, though. Players were also seen dressed as babies, aliens, superheroes, Napoleon Dynamite, Santa Claus, and anything else you could imagine. Even Sully’s buddy, Mike Wazowski, made an appearance.

The creative costume scrimmage showed that players and coaches can have some fun during their off time, before the pressures of the regular season begin to build.

Head coach Willie Bloomquist shared a few sights from the day, asking followers to vote on the winner.

“Who’s wearing it best?” he asked prior to the exhibition.

The overwhelming favorite appears to have been that oversized monster booking it to first base, but here’s a look at what others were donning on the field.

The Sun Devils are gearing up for the 2023-24 season following a 32-23 campaign last year. Arizona State finished 16-13 in the PAC 12, good enough for a fifth-place finish in the league standings.

ASU actually started the year 23-9 before finishing 9-14 over its final 25 games. The poor finish kept the Sun Devils from an NCAA Tournament invite, though the season was ultimately an improvement from the year prior.

Coach Bloomquist will look to take the next step this spring and land the program its first postseason appearance since 2020-21.
