The Atlanta Hawks were a pretty big disappointment during the 2022-23 NBA season.

After finishing the previous season with a 43-39 record, the Hawks made a massive offseason move to try and make a playoff run.

They sent Danilo Galinari, 3 1st round draft picks, and a pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Dejounte Murray.

Despite the move, the Hawks were actually worse this season. They finished right at .500 this year with a record of 41-41 and were once again eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Now it looks like they may try and make another blockbuster move this offseason in the hopes that they get the results they were looking for from the last one.

According to Yahoo’s Jake Fischer, a trade with the Toronto Raptors for star forward Pascal Siakam is currently on the Hawks’ radar.

The Atlanta Hawks have been trying to trade John Collins away and replace him in their starting lineup for quite some time now and Siakam would be a pretty great option to replace Collins.

Siakam has been a force down low for the Raptors for the last few years. This season, the big man was particularly impressive, contributing 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game for a struggling Raptors squad.

The big issue with a move for Siakam would be the cost. Given his talent level, Siakam wouldn’t be cheap and the Hawks aren’t exactly loaded with assets after the Murray deal.

Maybe they could use somebody like Onyeka Okongwu to get a deal done, but that would hurt their depth down low for next season.

Even if they don’t manage to land Pascal Siakam, it’s clear the Atlanta Hawks are prepared to keep making moves to try and win right now even after they didn’t get the results they wanted this past season.
