Auburn bent the knee after getting ratioed into oblivion over a very embarrassing post about Hugh Freeze and Lane Kiffin on social media. The Tigers got destroyed online after losing their fourth college football game of the year, tucked tail and ran for cover.
Freeze, the disgraced former head coach at Ole Miss, was forced to resign from his role after it was discovered that he was calling escorts on a university-issued phone. Although he won a lot of games while in Oxford, the program was in a bad spot when he left.
There are a few exceptions among the good ole boys, but the fanbase in northeast Mississippi is largely against Freeze. Especially now that he is at an SEC West program.
Saturday marked his second game against his former school, after returning to Oxford while at Liberty. It was also Freeze’s first home game against the Rebels, and his first time playing them while back in the Southeastern Conference.
As is standard, Hugh Freeze and Lane Kiffin met at midfield before the game to shake hands.
Auburn decided that it would be funny to post a photo from the exchange, with the caption “Coach Freeze and a fan.” It wasn’t funny when it was posted. It definitely wasn’t funny after the Tigers lost.
Kiffin, Kiffin’s son, and Ole Miss proceeded to bury Freeze and Auburn online after the win. One particular video about the offseason coaching rumors was incredibly savage.
Meanwhile, Rebels fans had a field day with the pregame handshake post. The team even responded with a new caption: “Coach Freeze and the man who won.”
More than 1.5 million people saw the post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Until it suddenly disappeared.
The Tigers deleted the attempted troll after it went horribly wrong.
They left it up after the clock expired. They left it up overnight.
And then, on late Sunday afternoon, they deleted it!

Auburn made its bed but refused to lie in it. That’s about as lame as it gets.
