Baker Mayfield Added Another Bad Throw To His Highlight Reel At Training Camp Today

Baker Mayfield has finally gotten the fresh start he so badly needed at the end of his time with the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, that fresh start hasn’t exactly gone according to plan for the first few days of training camp.

On day 1 of training camp with the Carolina Panthers, a video surfaced of Baker badly under throwing one of his receivers, leading to an interception.

Yesterday, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said that the team wasn’t ready to make a decision on who their starting quarterback will be for 2022. As the Panthers try to figure out who their starter will be, Baker is sharing starting snaps with Sam Darnold.

Today, another video surfaced showing Baker making another throw that isn’t going to speed up the decision-making process for the Panthers.

The video shows Baker quickly coming under pressure and trying to hit one of his receivers on a slant route. The pass went directly to a defender for an easy interception.

Throws like this certainly aren’t helping the case for Baker as he tries to take control of the Panthers quarterback competition.

Luckily, it is still early on in camp, but Baker is going to need to stop creating these negative highlights if he wants this fresh start to work out for him.

The football world knows that the Panthers traded for Baker because they don’t trust Sam Darnold, so it’s going to take a lot of bad throws for the Panthers to give the job back to Darnold, but throws like this certainly don’t help the case for Baker as he joins a new team.
