After being released by the Carolina Panthers, many believed the San Francisco 49ers would be a great fit for Baker Mayfield. However, they were a long shot to sign him all along.
On Tuesday, the veteran quarterback signs with a new team, as he’ll be joining the Los Angeles Rams, per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Considering they’re going through their own quarterback problems, it makes sense why LA signed him off waivers.

With Matthew Stafford on IR and the quarterback position incredibly murky, Los Angeles pulled the trigger to bring in Baker Mayfield. Although they’re pretty much out of the playoff race, it is a smart signing. Especially considering they prevented the 49ers from signing him.
Meanwhile, many fans ponder the fit in LA for Baker Mayfield. With the season a total blunder and the future incredibly bleak, the Rams fanbase is left wondering what it means to have Mayfield on the roster. At the same time, 49ers fans seem unbothered by the news.
Sticking it to the Bay Area… Baaahaaa. Returning the CMC favor.

49er fans don’t seem to care but the feelings could be different within the organization.

Did the Rams actually want Baker Mayfield or are they just trying to block the 49ers?
= how to secure 49ers get no depth at QB.

At the end of the day, Mayfield finds a new home after things didn’t work out with the Panthers. We might see him hit the field this season for the Rams, or he could just be a backup. Either way, Baker Mayfield’s future in the NFL is rather bleak. Similar to LA.
