The Texas Longhorns won just its third Red River Rivalry game over Oklahoma in the last 10 years on Saturday, besting the Sooners 34-3.
After the fact, members of the OU team planted a flag through Baker Mayfield’s jersey at midfield.
The NFL quarterback was asked about the postgame antics following his Sunday afternoon win over the Saints. He took the opportunity to troll.
“Just a kid from Austin, Texas that went to Oklahoma, won his last two Red River games, and being rent free in their heads for almost a decade,” he quipped. The rivalry never dies!

Mayfield played a particularly influential role in his team’s success in the series, with the Sooners going 2-1 with the Heisman trophy winner under center.
After dropping his Red River Rivalry debut, the signal caller led Oklahoma to a pair of exciting wins. In 2016, he threw for 390 yards in a 45-40 victory. The next year was more of the same as he tossed two touchdowns in another 300-yard performance.
While playing in Norman, Baker Mayfield had a history of planting the Oklahoma flag at midfield in other opponents’ stadiums.
On Saturday, the Longhorns took a page from that book!

Mayfield took it as a compliment in some ways, but he says it’s time for the ‘Horns to move on!
