It’s not everyday someone hits for the cycle. Baltimore Orioles star Gunnar Henderson had a chance to make history on Sunday and absolutely blew it!

In the top of the eighth, Henderson just needed to hit a single to hit for the cycle. He lined one into the outfield, giving himself the chance to accomplish the feat.

But instead, the Orioles star rounded for second and recorded a double. After he was safe on base, all of his teammates immediately reacted, giving him some flack.

Even the Orioles social media team made fun of Gunnar Henderson.

Considering Baltimore was already up 10-1 before Henderson recorded the hit, he easily could have just stopped at first nobody would blame him. The Orioles didn’t need extra bases at that point.

Regardless, it’s pretty funny watching his teammates react to his blunder. Henderson could have made history, but hey, he wanted that double.

Hopefully, one day Gunnar Henderson has a chance to hit for the cycle again. Luckily for him, he’s just 22 years old. So, he has plenty of years left ahead of his career. Especially considering he’s one of the top prospects in the league.

He ended the day with an impressive stat line. He went four for five at the plate, hitting two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He also recorded two RBI’s.

The Orioles have been one of the more exciting stories in baseball this season. They’re an incredibly young team who currently sits in first place in the AL East.

As long as they continue playing at this level, we could see Baltimore make a deep run in the playoffs. But maybe next time Gunnar Henderson has a chance to hit for the cycle he takes advantage of it.
