On Monday’s Franchise tag NFL deadline, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants failed to reach deals with their star running backs, Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley, respectively.

As a result, both players are expected to stay off the field until the week before the upcoming NFL season, and there is a possibility they may not even return until later.

ESPN’s NFL insider, Adam Schefter, shed light on the situation during a recent appearance on NFL Live. He stated that the contract negotiations between the teams and their franchise-tagged running backs proved to be more challenging than anticipated.

As a result, Jacobs and Barkley are likely to miss significant portions of the preseason and Training Camp.

Schefter said: “We may not see Jacobs or Barkely until the week before the opener, if then.”

The absence of these star running backs during the crucial the Training Camp period could significantly impact their teams’ preparations for the upcoming season.

Both Jacobs and Barkley play integral roles in their respective offenses and are key contributors to their team’s success.

The fate of the teams’ early-season performances may very well rest on whether these running backs can get back on the field in time for kickoff.
