Ben Simmons has yet to see the court this season.
The former first round pick was traded midseason to the Brooklyn Nets after outgrowing his relationship with the Philadelphia 76ers. It was believed that he might be able to return to the floor for the conclusion of the regular season, but that debate has now been settled.
Nets’ head coach Steve Nash officially ruled Simmons out for the remainder of the regular season and for the play-in round of the NBA Playoffs. Brooklyn is locked into a play-in contest as they currently sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

It was speculated that the team might be able to get the forward back in time for the start of the postseason, but it looks like that won’t happen.
Now, Brooklyn will be without star power as they play to keep their season alive, a season that began with championship aspirations.
With Simmons’s hiatus being extended, basketball fans have taken to social media to post reactions.
NBA Reacts To Latest Ben Simmons News
Most around the NBA are not shocked by this announcement. While there was hope of a return, I don’t think fans will believe the reports until they actually see the forward on the court.
That hasn’t happened since June of 2021.

If the Nets are able to advance past the play-in round, hopefully Simmons will be able to join them in their postseason efforts.
