The Bears are giving wide receiver Chase Claypool a day off, and not in a good way, after recent comments he made about the coaching staff, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

When asked if he believes he’s being set up for success, Claypool recently took a seven-second pause before responding with a simple “No.

To fill Claypool’s spot, WR Equanimeous St. Brown will be stepping into the starting lineup.

Additionally, the Bears have decided to promote undrafted rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent to the QB2 spot, bypassing veteran Nathen Peterman.

The Bears seem to be making some changes to their offense before their game against the Broncos. Claypool’s absence today marks the first game he’ll miss this season.

As for the quarterback situation, Justin Fields remains the starter, but Tyson Bagent is now the backup, a promotion well-earned according to to the report.

Claypool’s season stats include only four catches for 51 yards and one touchdown in three games, with questions about his effort in Week 1 against the Packers.

Remember, the Bears acquired Claypool in a trade with the Steelers last season, giving up a second-round pick that ended up becoming the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 Draft
