Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney recently shed light on the growth and improvement displayed by quarterback Justin Fields compared to the previous season.

Mooney highlighted several key areas in which Fields has shown significant progress, especially in his understanding of the team’s playbook and his ability to take charge of the offense.

Mooney was effusive in his praise for Fields, stating, “We’ll do a two-minute drill, and he’ll call the plays himself. That’s something that he wasn’t able to do last year.”

He went on to share a conversation he had with Fields last year, where the young quarterback admitted his limitations, saying, “I can’t do that yet.” However, this year, Mooney has noticed a remarkable change in Fields’ approach to the game.

The talented wide receiver expressed his admiration for Fields’ growth, stating, “Within the playbook, there is no confusion there at all (anymore). I know where this play is designed for.”

This newfound understanding has allowed Fields to confidently lead the offense and execute plays with precision.

Last season saw Justin Fields make progress from his rookie year, although the improvement did not translate into more wins for the Bears, who finished with a 3-14 record.

In 15 games, Fields passed for nearly 2,250 yards, while throwing 17 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

Additionally, Fields showcased his athleticism and versatility by rushing for an impressive 1,143 yards and scoring 8 touchdowns.
