This Teqball Rally (Soccer + Table Tennis) Is The Most Electric Sports Highlight Of The Year

Upon seeing this absolutely electric Teqball highlight your first response might be ‘what in The Ocho is this and why isn’t it on ESPN yet?’ Because this highlight of a Teqball rally will immediately suck you in as a super fan.

Teqball is a sport that’s exploding in popularity just not in the United States (yet). The name Teqball is a combination of ‘technique’ and ‘soccer ball’ as it’s played with a regular soccer ball. And the game takes place on a concave table with similar dimensions to table tennis but with rules similar to volleyball where the person receiving the ball can only touch it three times before sending it back.

I haven’t personally logged enough hours watching Teqball (yet) to know if this is the single greatest rally of all-time but it very well might be. The clip has exploded on TikTok for 6.6 million views over the weekend while the YouTube Shorts version is still at just a few thousand.

It’s slightly odd that this video was framed as ‘Even Ronaldinho was impressed’ instead of just making it about the two ladies in the rally. Because I fail to see any possible reason he wouldn’t be impressed. This was one of the most impressive sports highlights I’ve watched this month.

As for Ronaldinho’s involvement, he is an International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) ambassador. Part of his role as an ambassador has him traveling the world promoting the sport of Teqball.

Somehow, some way, this sport wasn’t invented in Brazil. If this was trivia night and the question was ‘where was Teqball invented?’ I’d have written down ‘Brazil’ with the utmost confidence. However, Teqball was invented in 2012 in Hungary and it was created by a group of diehard soccer fans.

Since then it has exploded in popularity. Teqball was even been added as a sport to the 2023 European Games and has set its sight on applying for IOC approval and getting added to the Olympic Games.
