My 12 Favorite College Football Uniforms Of Week 4 Plus The Ugliest Combo Of The Season

Week 4 of the college football season has come and gone, which gave us an action-packed lineup of SEC showdowns, a West Coast slobber-knocker in the Big 10, and a walk-off win for Iowa over Michigan.

It also provided viewers with a number of new uniform looks from teams across the country. As is the case week in and week out, some knocked it out of the park while other designs failed to land.

This is now the fifth edition of the 2026 college football uniform rankings. I’ve assembled lists of my favorites dating back to Week 0, along with a few that made my eyes bleed.

Let’s take a look at the teams that flashed over the weekend and a handful that made headlines for the wrong reasons.

Best and worst college football uniforms from Week 4.

This list will include schools from all over the country. No conference is off-limits. The FCS is even represented thanks to a color rush combo from a top brand.

I’ve gathered 12 great looks from Week 4 while highlighting four others that dropped the ball. Let’s get to it, starting with the best of the best.

South Carolina Gamecocks

As a South Carolina grad, I may be biased, but there is no better look than the Gamecocks’ “Storm Trooper” fits in my humble opinion. If you’ve read my posts in the past, you know I’m a sucker for the icy whites. No one does it better than South Carolina.

The Gamecocks were decked out in white from head to toe which made the garnet lettering pop on the backdrop. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing that looked good for the program on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.

South Carolina fell into a 35-3 hole in route to a 49-18 loss. At least there was one “W” that came from the performance.

UTSA Roadrunners

UTSA’s “Por la cultura” stitches were arguably the best home getups of the weekend. The helmets made all the difference.

On the lids was a San Antonio logo in script, accompanied by a fiesta themed Roadrunner and stripe across the top. The helmets were a celebration of Hispanic Heritage, highlighting the area’s roots.

UTSA didn’t disappoint in the uniforms, either. The Roadrunners picked up a two-score win over Colorado State thanks to a 59-point offensive explosion.

Baylor Bears

Baylor has become somewhat of a regular on my lists, and they shined again last Saturday vs. Colorado. The Bears rocked green homes with a seldom-seen paw logo on the shoulder pads.

The helmets were metallic gold, but the rest of the fit was old-school. No names on the back of the jersey. The throwback paw print. Stars lining the lids. It couldn’t have been done much better.

Liberty Flames

This may have been the top uniform game of the weekend, and it came on Thursday. Coastal Carolina and Liberty kicked off Week 4 with a rivalry showdown in Conway.

Coastal went all teal. Liberty countered with all-whites to earn a spot on this week’s list. They also went away from the block ‘LU’ logo on the helmet to use a throwback decal.

Making the weekend even sweeter, the Flames picked up a 34-17 win on the road.

Sacramento State Hornets

Sacramento State stepped away from the typical green to go with black threads for a matchup with UMASS on Saturday. The game didn’t go as planned with the Hornets losing 35-6. At least they did so in style.

The Hornets’ helmets boasted “916” area code decals, and the gold lettering on the black jersey backdrops fit perfectly. It’s the program’s first appearance on the college football uniform list this season. With looks like this, it may not be their last.

Tulane Green Wave

The Green Wave made my Week 2 list thanks to Mardi Gras inspired fits for a matchup with South Alabama. They make a repeat appearance after Saturday’s uniform combination in New Orleans.

The team broke out powder blues for a home game with Southern Miss. In my opinion, there are not many better helmet logos than the massive Green Wave, which fit perfectly on the light blue lids.

Tulane looked good and played good with a win over the Eagles. They’ve put themselves in a strong position to be named team of the year based on uniform design alone.

Ole Miss Rebels

Speaking of powder blue, no one does it better than Ole Miss. It’s the reason they made our Week 3 rankings last Saturday. The look was a bit different this week on the road, but the color combo still shined.

Ole Miss rocked icy whites for a matchup with Florida in The Swamp. Powder blue and red lined the jerseys and pants. Blue helmets popped. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to will the Rebels to victory.

Ole Miss fell to Florida, 52-28. It was the team’s first loss of the season.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

Just down the road in Starkville, Mississippi, the Bulldogs rocked their own version of icy whites despite playing at home. Mississippi State went with white lids to make that interlocking MSU decal pop. Small details like an outline of the state of Mississippi on the nameplate stood out.

The Bulldogs didn’t disappoint in the white-out vs. Missouri. They picked up a 31-24 win in Starkvegas to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Temple Owls

Temple went with an “All Cherry Everything” look for a matchup vs. Army on Friday afternoon. The Owls were decked out in red from head to toe for a home color rush.

White diamonds lined the helmets, collars, and pant legs of the uniforms to provide some contrast. Combine that with the strong “Temple T” decal on the lids and you get one of the best combos of the weekend.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

Another all-white look to make the cut this weekend, Western Kentucky chose to white-out Houchens Industries-LT Smith Stadium in Bowling Green for a matchup with Mercyhurst.

They wouldn’t disappoint the home crowd, rolling to a 52-7 win. The uniforms looked as good as the team’s play.

The domes had the classic WKU towel decal while the thick black shadow on the red numbering provided a bit of an old school feel. All in all, a great combo from the Hilltoppers.

Utah State Aggies

Utah State had, hands-down, the best helmet logo of the weekend. The Aggies went away from the typical “U State” decals to introduce a throwback look showing a bull leaping through a block U.

It was homecoming in Logan, providing the perfect opportunity to go retro, as the team welcomed Troy to Maverik Stadium. They left with a 21-10 victory after overcoming an early deficit.

Eastern Washington Eagles

My favorite color rush uniform combo from Week 4 of the college football season actually came from the FCS. Eastern Washington went all-red for a matchup against Cal Poly. It was perfection.

The EWU Eagle logo on the helmet is one of the sport’s best. The lettering and numbering somehow avoided looking cluttered despite the school’s 17-letter name.

Unfortunately, the Eagles lost at home to the Mustangs. That doesn’t diminish the incredible fits.

The 4 worst college football uniforms of the week.

These, for one reason or another, missed the mark in this viewer’s eyes. Attempts to be bold were made. These four schools swung and missed.

Iowa State Cyclones

It’s hard to miss in all-white, but Iowa State did just that on Saturday. For me, it was the color combo.

The Cyclones went with strictly black and white. I would’ve liked to have seen a little more of the school colors. Red and yellow would’ve shined on the all-white backdrop. Black just didn’t hit as hard.

I did like the script logos, as well as the lettering on the jerseys. I just feel a different color scheme could’ve given it a little more life.

Washington State Cougars

I wasn’t a fan of the gray helmets or pants in this uniform combo worn by Washington State on Saturday in Pullman. White would’ve looked better with the crimson jerseys.

Again, I like the script helmet decals and the fact that the jerseys are void of stripes, giving a more classic look. The color combination just didn’t get it done.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake Forest pulled off arguably the upset of the weekend vs. Louisville, but they failed to get in the win column in terms of uniform design.

The Demon Deacons wore gold caps and pants with white jerseys for the road game in Kentucky. The helmet logo was just too bland, and it was made worse by the metallic shine of the golden domes.

I actually love the jerseys, again with no stripes, and a Demon Deacon decal on the collar. There was a chance to knock this out of the park, but the helmets held the uniforms back.

Oregon Ducks

Oregon has made this list on numerous occasions for having the best college football uniforms of the week. This time, they find themselves on the opposite end.

The Ducks went with white jerseys for a road contest at USC. Similar to Iowa State, they went away from school colors to flash white and silver.

I’m not a fan of the numbering, the shoulder striping, or the color combo. I also prefer other logos as opposed to the wings on the lids. For me, it was probably the worst combination of the week, and maybe of the season thus far.

Luckily, it had no impact on the outcome of the game. Oregon took down USC to get a leg up in the Big 10 standings.
