Best and worst college football uniforms from Week 2.
Week 2 of the 2026 College Football season was played on the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks in the United States. To recognize and honor those lost, a number of schools donned uniforms with patriotic designs and a message of unity.
Those looks not only paid homage to families and victims, but they also provided us with some of the best college football uniforms of the young season. Design teams went above and beyond to pay respects.
I dug through a few of the best and worst uniforms from Week 2, identifying 11 of my absolute favorites and two more that fell a bit short. A number of those top honors boast a concept referencing either the military or national pride.

In this group, I have a total of 13 schools. Of my 11 favorites, 10 hail from the FBS with one FCS program making the cut. Often, I try to keep this weekly list contained to the 130 or so FBS teams simply due to time constraints, but this one FCS design crossed my feed and caught my eye.
Of the two worst college football uniforms of the week, one involves a Power 4 program with another coming from the Group of 6.
Let’s start with the best before wrapping up with the duds.
Citadel Bulldogs
The Bulldogs faced rival Charleston Southern in the annual “Lowcountry Boil” and they broke out a fresh set of threads with military inspired tops. Camouflage blue patterns covered the jerseys with dark blue pants and Citadel blue domes.
The block C logo is simple, but it stands out. The color combo just works with the different shades of dark and light blue. This was my favorite look from the FCS this week.
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs fell in their rivalry matchup by a touchdown in double overtime.
Boston College Eagles
Boston College played its annual Red Bandana Game on September 11th against Rutgers. They sported one of the best and most impactful uniforms we’ll see all season.
The Red Bandana fits pay tribute to Welles Crowther, who was killed saving others in the September 11th attacks. Accounts from those that escaped the World Trade Center in New York began emerging referencing a man in a red bandana that led them to safety. It was later determined to be Crowther, a former lacrosse player at BC.
The red and gold bandana pattern is seen on the sleeves, pants, and helmets, and it’s an incredible way to honor a hero and keep Crowther’s legacy alive.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Rutgers was on the other sideline during the Red Bandana Game, and they sported a look to honor the 37 alumni that were killed in the September 11th attacks.
The Scarlet Knights repped all red uniforms with white caps and “Never Forget” messages across the leg and helmet. A No. 37 was worn on the domes alongside a logo “R,” both of which boasted coloring inspired by the American flag.
Rutgers lost what was the most patriotic game of the week, 28-21.
Georgia Bulldogs
We’ll step away from the US and military themed getups for a second to recognize a never-before-seen look from the Georgia Bulldogs.
UGA had never worn all white. They dropped the brand-new look this week for a game vs. Western Kentucky.
The Bulldogs shined in the icy threads, scoring a 70-20 win over the Hilltoppers.
Florida Gators
Florida rocked blue lids and orange jerseys in the Swamp for a matchup vs. Campbell. It was a break away from the traditional blue tops usually seen from the Gators.
On the helmet was the typical ‘Gators’ script. Keeping the bottoms white helped make the look cleaner in my eyes.
Florida cruised to a 52-3 win in the fits over the weekend. We’ll see if they return to their normal look when they enter SEC play vs. Auburn next Saturday.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oklahoma State had the biggest upset of the weekend, upending No. 2 Oregon in Stillwater on Saturday. They looked incredible doing so with some slick orange uniforms.
The Cowboys rocked orange up top with white bottoms and an awesome Pistol Pete logo on the domes. It’s a look that somewhat mirrors the Tampa Bay Bucs’ creamsicle threads, arguably the best in the NFL.
The color combo is clean. The retro logo completes the fit.
Colorado State Rams
Orange was in this week, and no one did it better than Colorado State. The Rams sported orange tops and green domes with a retro school logo.
The transition from a traditional green and gold look was done as part the school’s annual “Ag Day,” which honors the university’s agricultural and land roots.
The “Orange Out” game called fans to wear orange, too, and the raucous crowd fueled the Rams to a 58-24 victory over Southern Utah.
Baylor Bears
The Bears went with a green, green, white combo that had hints of yellow throughout. The home looks were worn for a Week 2 matchup vs. Prairie View.
The color combo makes this fit shine. It’s sleek. The dark green pops with the white pants. They aren’t too busy or over the top.
It was a nice changeup after wearing white in the season opener vs. Auburn in Georgia.
Tulane Green Wave
The Green Wave wore a Mardi Gras themed getup for a Week 2 matchup vs. South Alabama. It was dropped as part of their City Edition series which pays homage to New Orleans.
The Tulane football Mardi Gras helmet has Kelly Green as the base color and features Jester Angry Wave done in a Mardi Gras float style. This is the first time Jester Angry Wave has made an appearance on the helmets.
Another Jester Angry Wave can be found on the pants that have Mardi Gras argyle patterns down the sides. The jerseys have a triple shadow in the Purple/Green/Gold colors of Mardi Gras and the player’s names have beads adorning the lettering.
Tulane is at the forefront when it comes to college football’s city tribute uniforms. This may be their best yet.
NC State Wolfpack
We’ll go back to the military theme with NC State, which repped all camo uniforms in a college football matchup vs. Richmond.
The “Wolfpack Warriors” look paid homage to the school’s history with the military. It featured matte black lids with the wolf logo. The camo tops and pants featured touches of red lettering and an American flag on the sleeve.
NC State played well while honoring its military tradition. The Wolfpack beat the Spiders 73-0 in Raleigh.
Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies, unsurprisingly, went with a Star-Spangled look for a matchup with Arizona State in College Station. The uniforms were somewhat tradition, with maroon up top and white on the bottom.
The helmets, though, featured a logo inspired by the American flag. Some players wore gloves with Old Glory inspirations, too.
The Aggies have a strong history with the military, and this was the weekend to honor that tradition. They played as well as they looked with a 48-20 victory over the Sun Devils.
The worst college football uniforms of Week 2.
These fits missed the mark just a bit, whether it be because of color combos or busyness. As a result, they land a spot on worst of the week.
Minnesota Golden Gophers
Minnesota paid tribute to teams of the past with gold tops and maroon bottoms. I think I would’ve like to have seen them commit to the “Gold Out” bit with gold pants, instead.
Michigan went with an all-maize look in Week 1 which made my best of the week list last Tuesday. I think Minnesota could’ve been on the opposite side of the fence had they done the same.
The maroon pants took away from the tops, in my opinion. It was a missed opportunity to go bold in all gold.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
These reminded me a bit of a look worn by Eastern Michigan in Week 0. The dark green just doesn’t quite pop on the all-black uniforms.
It’s hard to really see the school colors outside of the helmet stripe. There’s just not enough contrast. The second school color of silver doesn’t help given the black background.
On white, which the Rainbow Warriors wore last week on the road, Hawaii’s uniforms pop. It just doesn’t work on black. I’d really like to see them return to the green tops in the near future for home games.
