Tulane Football has always had Green as their primary color so tacking on Purple and Gold to complete the triad of Mardi Gras colors just made sense. The hand-painted helmets were done by artist Armando Villarreal who was the mastermind behind Tulane’s 2025 City Edition uniforms. Villarreal is a former U.S. Army Reserve member who was deployed to Iraq and Kosovo in the early 2000s.

The Tulane Football Mardi Gras helmet has Kelly Green as the base color and features Jester Angry Wave done in a Mardi Gras float style. This is the first time Jester Angry Wave has made an appearance on the Tulane Football helmets.

The helmet also features alternating solid and bead-ouline diamonds reminiscent of New Orleans streets during Mardi Gras season. There is a sticker on the back of the helmet that is also a nod to Mardi Gras float signs. And on the front of the helmet there is a king cake sticker, the dessert staple of Mardi Gras.

Another Jester Angry Wave can be found on the pants that have Mardi Gras argyle patterns down the sides which also pays homage to Tulane Football uniforms of years past. The jerseys have a triple shadow in the Purple/Green/Gold colors of Mardi Gras and the player’s names have beads adorning the lettering.
