A sports bettor hoping to turn $50 into $1 million came one step closer to that dream when the Dodgers won the World Series, but they might regret the team they chose for the final leg of the five-team parlay when you consider they need to Jets to win the Super Bowl.
It can be hard to resist the urge to throw down some money on a parlay given the potential returns that can come with some particularly ambitious bets hitting, especially when there are plenty of examples of people who managed to turn a relatively tiny sum into an absolute fortune by defying the odds.
One guy was hoping to become the latest person to do so earlier this year when he threw down $50 on a five-leg parlay with a potential payout of $1,000,073.93 thanks to the +1937276 odds they were given, and things got off to a solid start when the UConn Huskies (+500) ended up winning the NCAA Tournament.
Two more of those bets hit in June when the Boston Celtics (+210) secured the Larry O’Brien Trophy around a week before the Panthers (+700) beat the Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, and on Wednesday, the bettor in question checked the fourth box when the Dodgers (+320) defeated the Yankees to win the World Series.
The good news is that they’re now just one leg away from cashing in. The bad news? The last bet is on the New York Jets to win Super Bowl LIX, which was already the biggest longshot of the bunch thanks to the +3000 odds the team was getting when the bet was placed.

As you likely know, there’s very little evidence that suggests the Jets have what it takes to win a Super Bowl, as the team is currently sitting at 2-6 and will be lucky to make the playoffs based on how they’ve looked during a tumultuous season where they fired their head coach and failed to get the results they expected in the wake of the return of Aaron Rodgers.
FanDuel is offering the bettor the chance to prematurely cash out to the tune of $4,721.65, and they’re probably going to want to take advantage of that opportunity as soon as possible.
