Bill Romanowski Tears Into The NFL For Suspending Vontaze Burfict For The Season, Thinks The Punishment Is Absolute BS

It’s hard to imagine any sane human being arguing justice for Vontaze Burfict after the Raiders linebacker was suspended for the entire season following a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit on defenseless Colts wide receiver Jack Doyle.

I mean, Jesus.

The suspension marks Burfict’s fourth of his career, with the linebacker losing $5.3 million since 2013 due to fines and lost wages from suspensions.

Former NFL linebacker and Certified Crazy Person Bill Romanowski thinks the NFL suspending Burfict for the entire season is “bullshit.” Mind you, this is coming from a man who once threw a microwave at a teammate, delivering a helmet-to-helmet hit against Panthers QB Kerry Collins in preseason that broke his jaw, and spitting in the face of 49ers receiver J.J. Stokes.

The four-time Super Bowl champion spoke to TMZ about why he believes Burfict, a personal friend (go figure!), was railroaded.

“You’re in the heat of battle. Your mindset is kill or be killed. Because the offensive linemen are still coming at you. You’re in war. You’re supposed to be able to be violent sometimes and other times you’re supposed to just be able to take your foot off the gas like that. That is hard, my friend.”

Romanowski believes Burfict should be fined but, seeing as he’s handled himself “like a pro” in his career, he should not be severely punished.

“I feel for this guy. Do I think he should be fined? Yes. Do I think he should be kicked outta the league? No. I think it is absolutely dead wrong. This guy has handled himself like a pro. And yes, he is a violent mother f’er and I love the way he plays the game of football.”

“I think a fine, maybe a game because there’s previous stuff. Other people just get kicked out of the game. I’ve been kicked out of games for things like that, so I get it. But, for him to be suspended for the season, I think is bulls**t.”

“To me, he plays the game the way it’s supposed to be played. Did he take it too far? Yeah. And, he’s taken it too far quite a few times. I think my dealings with him, he’s nothing but a good guy. A guy who’s probably the smartest football mind in the room. He’s a true pro.”

“I think he’s a good guy, but I will say this…”

Ok, I think Bill is finally going to say something I agree with…

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
