Former Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace does not get enough love from college football fans. The same can be said for his own fanbase. He left a complicated legacy in Oxford.

Dr. Bo transferred into the program in 2012 after one year at Arkansas state and one year at East Mississippi Community College. The Rebels had won just six games total in each of the two seasons prior to his arrival. They went 7-6, 8-5 and 9-4 during Wallace’s three years as the starter.

He completed 63% of his passes for 9,534 yards and 62 touchdowns while running for 944 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground. There were some very frustrating turnovers and ugly performances along the way, which Wallace is the first to acknowledge, but he was a gamer and led Ole Miss to an unforgettable win over Alabama with Katy Perry and College GameDay in town.

Despite all of the big wins, an Ole Miss fan account did not include Wallace on his list of the greatest quarterbacks in school history over the last decade. He was surprised that he didn’t at least get a nod for his toughness.

Wallace played through a third-degree shoulder separation on his throwing arm, as well as broken bones in his plant foot as a senior. He shared imaging of his shoulder to further drive home his point.

In doing so, Wallace also revealed that he “beat Mississippi State’s best team” while high on pain pills.

The first-ever College Football Playoff ranking was released on Oct. 28, 2014. It included both Power Five schools from the Magnolia State.

  1. Mississippi State
  2. Florida State
  3. Auburn
  4. Ole Miss

The Bulldogs have never been ranked that high before and probably never will again. The program has quickly returned to irrelevance.

Anyway, the 2014 team was Mississippi State’s best team of all-time. It entered the Egg Bowl ranked No. 4 in the country with a 10-1 record. No. 19-ranked Ole Miss won 31-17.

Wallace said in a since-deleted post on X that he led the Rebels to victory while loopy.

Y’all know I couldn’t grow facial hair until I was being shot up with steroids during the week to practice and cortisol before the game… I was so high on pain pills 14′ Ms state game the whole stadium was swaying before the kick off

While there are certainly some concerns with what Bo Wallace said about his pain management, it was nearly 10 years ago now. The staff at Ole Miss today is not the same staff as 2014.

Putting that all aside, Wallace led the Rebels to victory over their rival’s best team of all-time while so high on pain pills that the college football stadium was swaying. That’s tough.
