Police in the affluent Connecticut suburb of Darien are keeping their heads down at the station water cooler this week after body camera footage was released of officers pulling over Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and holding him at gunpoint for a crime he didn’t commit.
The 52-year-old was stopped last Friday after cops mistakenly believed he stole his own Jeep.
The mixup wasn’t totally random, seeing as Cashman had his Jeep stolen in Connecticut a few weeks ago, abut it was eventually found in the Bronx and returned to Cashman. New York police had told Cashman that they removed his car from a database of stolen vehicles, but evidently failed to do so.
In a random coincidence, police were also on the hunt for a white Jeep after a man driving that car had allegedly flailed around a gun in a local doctor’s office.

“You look very familiar to me,” the cop says …
“I’m the GM of the New York Yankees,” Cashman quickly responded.
“Yeah, I know,” the cop replies … “I used to see you at Brook Street Bagels when I was an Eastchester cop. I apologize for the embarrassment.”
Pulling a gun out on a man and then kissing his ass immediately after. Interesting turn of events.
The cop never even bothered looking at the ID, the cop lights were all shut off to prevent a spectacle, and everyone went on their merry ways.
