It was only a matter of time before Brandel Chamblee weighed in on the Patrick Reed cheating controversy and oh boy, did he tee off on him.

Whether you enjoy Chamblee’s commentary or not, everyone can agree about the fact that he always speaks his mind and cuts right to the situation at hand. You may agree or disagree with his assessment about Reed here, but you have to tip your cap for him sticking to his guns.

Reed was caught on camera during the third round of the Hero World Challenge last week improving his lie in a waste bunker. He was hit with a two-stroke penalty and then blamed the ruling on a poor camera angle, which hasn’t sat well with most folks.

Chamblee was asked about whether or not the incident may affect the U.S. team at this week’s Presidents Cup to start the fiery conversation.

“Deep down in the marrow of this team, they will be affected by this controversy. Their DNA as a team has been altered. To defend what Patrick Reed did is defending cheating. It’s defending breaking the rules.”

This was just a preview as to what was to come from Chamblee. He then turned to his teammates and how this whole thing has put them in a tough spot and even explained that Tiger Woods and Team USA ‘made a deal with the devil’ when they put him on this team.

Look, they made a deal with the devil when they put Patrick Reed on this team. They thought that whatever darkness he would bring to the team would be offset by his competitive fire. When was the last a team mate stabbed everybody in the back as soon as the event was over. It was the last time there was a team event, and it was Patrick Reed.

Perhaps Chamblee’s greatest point in the rant, and one that really rings true in my opinion is that Reed blaming the whole thing on a camera angle is an extremely bad look. The whole excuse just screams ‘look, I have a huge ego.’

“The fact that he thinks there is no intent. I think his ego is as big as Jupiter. Ego monsters are irritated by facts, but they’re not moved aside from them. They think their ignorance of the facts, or their version, of what happened is greater than the truth.”

Be sure to check out the full video below as Chamblee makes a lot of very thoughtful points about the entire situation.
