Georgia Tech head football coach Brent Key was sopping wet after Friday’s Gasparilla Bowl win over UCF. His players hit him with the classic celebratory bath as soon as the clock hit zero.

However, he wanted to be very clear as to what liquid was dumped upon his head.

The Yellow Jackets drink Coca-Cola products. Georgia Tech is a Coca-Cola school.

Gatorade is owned by Pepsi. Powerade is owned by Coca-Cola.

Thus, when the ACC Network’s Taylor Tanebaum told Key that he smelled like the former, the first-year head coach quickly set the record straight. It was impossible for him to smell like Gatorade because it was Powerade!

Key dropped the line of bowl season and cut an incredible promo for his school’s official drink partner with a big smile on his face and a chuckle. He’s the ultimate program guy!

Meanwhile, not far from Key, the Yellow Jackets continued to light up on the sideline.

Multiple Georgia Tech players were smoking cigars to celebrate their seventh win of the season. You can tell how much it meant to them.

A few of the athletes had sparked up before the clock even hit zero — which couldn’t be more savage.

Key is beloved by his players. He kept the program alive as the interim head coach after Geoff Collins was fired in 2022 and led the Yellow Jackets to their first winning season since 2018 in his first year as the full-time guy.

Key is building something in Atlanta. There is a palpable buzz around a college football program that has been mostly irrelevant since its Orange Bowl appearance in 2014.

And at the forefront of Georgia Tech’s rising football team is one thing: Powerade. Not Gatorade.

Brent Key won’t let you forget! To say that his players would bathe him in a Pepsi product was unfathomable!
