Update:

Broncos safety Kareem Jackson had his four-game suspension reduced to two-games on appeal.

Original Story:

Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson got in trouble again, and this time it’s going to cost him sitting out for the next four games.

The NFL has dropped the hammer, suspending Jackson for unnecessary roughness violations.

During Sunday’s game against the Packers, Jackson was ejected for the second time this season. The ejection came after a hit on Packers rookie tight end Luke Musgrave.

NFL vice president of football operations, Jon Runyan, announced: “On the play in question, you delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of a defenseless receiver, when you had the time and space to avoid such contact. You could have made contact with your opponent within the rules, yet you chose not to.”

Kareem Jackson might be no spring chicken at 35, but he’s been a steady presence on the field. He’s started every game in the past two seasons and has quite the resume – 22 career interceptions, 943 tackles, 110 passes defended, and 7 forced fumbles.

Jackson, however won’t be adding to those stats for the next four games. He’s slated to miss games against the Chiefs, Bills, Vikings, and Browns before he’s eligible to make his return.

But there’s a darker side to this story. After the game, Jackson received racist DMs on his Instagram account, and that’s just not right, no matter the circumstances.

Hopefully, in the midst of his suspension for the illegal hits, Jackson learns a lesson about the right way to tackle defenseless players.
