The Cleveland Browns have made a swift and decisive move by releasing defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey amidst a police investigation into an alleged altercation with a woman at a downtown Cleveland hotel.

The woman has accused Winfrey of threatening her and displaying a firearm during the incident, per TMZ.

The Browns wasted no time in parting ways with the former Oklahoma star, making the announcement just hours after the disturbing allegations came to light.

According to local reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when the woman and a friend encountered Winfrey in the hotel lobby. Allegedly, when they tried to engage with him and were ignored, one of the women hurled an insult at the football player.

This led to Winfrey becoming visibly upset and approaching them, making threats and showing that he had a weapon.

Law enforcement was alerted, and the Cleveland Police Department responded to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, Winfrey had already left. As of now, he has not been arrested or formally charged in connection with the incident.

This is not the first time Perrion Winfrey has found himself embroiled in legal trouble. Back in April, he was arrested for assaulting a woman he was involved with at the time. However, the charges were eventually dropped after he successfully completed a pretrial diversion program.

Now, with this latest incident, his future in the NFL remains uncertain, and he could face serious consequences if found guilty.
