If you play poker (or have simply watched Rounders and/or Casino Royale), you’re likely familiar with the concept of a “tell,” which refers to certain (and unconscious) habits and mannerisms you can use to get a read on whether a player is bluffing or has a good hand.

However, that’s not the only sport where body language can provide some major insight into what your opponent is planning. Plenty of baseball players have taken advantage of pitchers who inadvertently forecast the type of ball they’re going to throw, and more than a few NFL teams have fallen victim to quarterbacks who failed to realize they’re giving the defense some major insight into the play that’s about to unfold.

In 2019, Lamar Jackson was able to reverse course after broadcasters pointed out he was only drying his hands with a towel on passing plays during a rainy game. Ben Roethlisberger also fell victim to a bad habit when lined up in the shotgun formation, as it was fairly easy for teams to figure out if the Steelers were going to run or pass by paying close attention to his left foot.

Now, it appears the man widely consider the greatest quarterback to ever play the game has ended up in a similar situation.

A Tampa Bay Buccaneers insider says Tom Brady is tipping certain plays based on one minor detail

On Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers season (and what seems like it has a very good chance to be Tom Brady’s farewell tour) took its latest turn for the worse after the team fell to 3-5 on the year thanks to a 27-22 loss the Ravens.

Brady’s play has left a bit to be desired, and he may not be doing himself any favors with a certain tell that was picked up by Paul Atwal of Pewter Report, who says the location of the QB’s right foot has become a bit of a tell: whenever he puts it forward prior to the snap, the team will either be running a handoff or a screen.

Of course, that’s just one of many issues that could be contributed to Brady’s subpar play, but it’s certainly not helping him.
