Caitlin Clark did not want to hoist the Big Ten Championship trophy before her Iowa teammates. It was a classy gesture from the women’s college basketball superstar that showed her selflessness.

It also left head coach Lisa Bluder hanging in hilarious fashion!

The Hawkeyes needed 45 minutes to get the job done on Sunday. They fell behind 46-35 at halftime after a poor shooting performance from Clark and rallied around their senior sharpshooter during the second half to send the game to an extra period.

The first Women’s Big Ten Championship Game to go to overtime was a thriller. Gabbie Marshall ultimately sealed the win with a vicious stuff block with under a minute left.

As soon as the clock hit zero and Iowa’s three-peat was complete, the celebration was on!

Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti wanted to hand Caitlin Clark the championship trophy after the game. She politely declined and conceded that honor to Bluder.

And then she made sure to give her teammates the shine that they deserved.

Bluder turned back to Clark, who got out of the way, and tried to pass the trophy her way. The legendary senior again turned it down because she wanted her teammates to hold the trophy first.

As small of a moment as it was, it speaks loudly to who Clark is as a person. Others before self!

It was similar to what she did with Travis Scott.

Although it was not Clark’s best game of the year by a large margin, she still finished with 34 points and 12 assists. That’s special.

The Hawkeyes will head into the NCAA tournament as a No. 1 seed for the second year in a row. If they are going to avenge their loss to LSU last season, they will need to keep the energy from Sunday. It did not look like Iowa was going to get the job done for most of the game but Clark and company found a way!
