All signs point toward the Bears selecting Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, there are a few other possibilities in play.

Chicago may choose to stick with Justin Fields and draft a wide receiver like Marvin Harrison Jr. It may also trade out of the top spot to allow another organization the opportunity to get the USC signal-caller. Otherwise, he will be drafted by the Washington Commanders at No. 2 if he is available.

Regardless of how things play out, barring shocking unforeseen circumstances, Williams will be the first or second overall pick. The latter is more likely than the former at this point.

It seems inevitable that Caleb Williams will be the new signal-caller for the Chicago Bears.

Thus, the internet was set ablaze when he changed his profile picture on Instagram earlier this month. The photo showed Williams as a young boy. He was wearing a t-shirt with a bear on it.

Speculation began immediately after the change was made:

Did Caleb Williams change his profile picture to indicate that Chicago is going to draft him first overall?

No. He did not. There was no correlation.

Even if the Bears have not told him that they are going to take him at No. 1, Williams is confident. The 22-year-old quarterback has not even considered the possibility of being picked No. 2 or later.

It’s not a thought in my mind. I don’t think that I’m not gonna be number one. I think I put in all the hard work, all of the time, effort, energy into being that. I don’t think of a plan-B. That’s kind of how I do things in my life. I don’t think of a plan-B, stay on plan-A and then when things don’t work out, find a way to make plan-A work.

Should Chicago stay put atop the NFL Draft, Williams would be thrilled.

There has been a lot of speculation and rumors that he does not want to end up in the Windy City. All of that chatter was put to rest on Friday morning.

The Bears were a 7-10 team last year, and that’s pretty good for a team that has the pick. They got a good defense. They got good players on offense. It’s pretty exciting if you can go to a situation like that.

As for the Bears’ not-so-great track record with quarterbacks in the past, Williams is not concerned with those who have come before him. It is not a worry in his mind because he is his own person and his own player.

I don’t compare myself to other guys […]

I like to re-write history.

Although the Instagram photo in a bear-themed t-shirt was not a hidden Easter egg to indicate Williams’ NFL future, it sounds like everything is trending in that direction. At the very least, the Chicago front office received public confirmation that its potential quarterback of the future would be excited to be a part of their organization. That is always nice to hear!
