Cam Newton and the Panthers lost a game to a quarterback who completed four passes the entire contest, and just 153 yards of total offense (the lowest yards an opponent has accumulated against Carolina since San Francisco in 2013). The 17-3 loss to the Bears came down to two takeaways by rookie safety Eddie Jackson, who took a fumble 75 yards to the house and a deflected interception 76 yards for a score. This was a particularly frustrating loss for the Panthers considering they held huge advantages in yards, time of possession, offensive plays, and first downs.
Newton completed 21 of 34 passes for 211 yards and two interceptions. This one was bad.
Newton appeared at the post-game presser in typical off-the-wall fashion. Twitter proved once again that it has no sympathy for devastating losses.
