Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was recently the victim of a home burglary while he was at training camp, with over $300K worth of property stolen. Lamb’s robbery is the latest in a string of home invasions and burglaries targeting professional athletes while they are away from home for their jobs.
Police reported that on July 31, while Lamb was at the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard, California, someone broke into his Fairview, Texas, house. The Fairview Police Department said officers responded to Lamb’s home and met with individuals representing CeeDee Lamb after a worker noticed a broken window and called 911.
Police said that evidence points to a single suspect entering and leaving Lamb’s home through the shattered window and stealing “several high-end personal items.” According to police documents cited by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the suspect took four luxury bags worth more than $300,000.
Despite FBI warnings and several arrests, burglars continue to target athletes’ homes
Last year, law enforcement arrested several alleged members of a South American Theft Group for burglarizing the homes of professional athletes, and authorities charged two owners of a pawn shop with allegedly running a fencing operation and selling the athletes’ stolen items.
Since then, burglars have broken into several more professional athletes’ homes. In December, WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu and former NFL lineman Hroniss Grasu had their Los Angeles home broken into and burglarized. Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Ketel Marte also had their homes burglarized in 2025.
Last month, two individuals broke into Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s home in Malvern, Pennsylvania. One of the suspects entered the house while Saquon Barkley and his family were in the home, but he took nothing, and no one was injured.
In addition to those home invasions and burglaries, over the past several years, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Linval Joseph, Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, NBA players Luka Doncic, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mike Conley and Bobby Portis, and Dallas Star hockey player Tyler Seguin have also had their homes broken into and items stolen while they were away.
In 2024, the FBI issued a warning about “organized theft groups” from South America targeting pro athletes’ homes for burglaries.
