Joe Mixon made headlines with his touchdown celebration in the regular season finale. A former Bengal is coming to his aid should he land any fines from the NFL.

Chad Johnson has offered to pay any penalties incurred for the celebration, which took a direct shot at the league.

After reaching the endzone in a matchup with the Ravens, Joe Mixon pulled a coin out of his sock and flipped it. The celebration was a jab at the NFL’s decision to move to a coin flip to decide homefield advantage between the Ravens and Bengals should Baltimore pull the season ending upset.

Many around Cincinnati were upset about the NFL’s solution in response to the cancellation of the Bengals-Bills game following Damar Hamlin’s scary exit. Head coach Zac Taylor believed the decision penalized his team while rewarding a division rival.

So, to send a statement on their displeasure, Joe Mixon pulled out that TD celly. It’s sure to garner some sort of reaction from the NFL, but the tailback shouldn’t have to worry about his bank account. Chad Johnson is coming to the rescue.

The former Cincinnati star posted a message on social media offering to pay the incoming fines.

Whatever fine is imposed from the league office I will be reimbursing Joe Mixon & anyone else implicated in the best celebration this year!!

Johnson’s been in this situation before. The pass catcher was known for his extravagant touchdown celebrations throughout his playing days, and now, he’s passing the torch to a new generation of Bengals.

Thanks to Joe Mixon and his teammates, the coin flip scenario won’t come into play. Cincy took down Baltimore rather easily to win the AFC North crown. That means homefield advantage for the wildcard round, which will see a rematch between the division rivals.
