Charles Barkley Cursed Alma Mater Auburn Before NCAA Tournament Loss To Yale

The Auburn Tigers became the latest victim of March Madness on Friday evening when they fell to Ivy League Cinderella Yale, 78-76.

Fourth-seeded Auburn entered the tournament as one of the hottest teams in the country after winning the SEC Tournament, but the 13th-seeded Bulldogs were up to the test.

The Tigers had several opportunities to tie or take the lead down the stretch, but nothing would go. And legendary Auburn alum Charles Barkley might just be to blame for that.

Barkley went on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Thursday and claimed that “we ain’t losing to the smart kids.”

Which, honestly, was probably a pretty good prediction at the time!

There’s just one problem. They did, in fact, lose the smart kids.

Even at halftime, with the Tigers leading by just seven points, Barkley expressed extreme confidence about his alma mater’s ability to come out with the win.

But after the loss, even he had to give credit where credit was due.

“I’ve gotto give Yale credit,” Barkley said. “They came back. We had a 10-point lead with 7 minutes to go. We got a 6-point lead with four minutes to go. But these cats made some tough shots.

“…Yale played better. They deserved to win the game. My Tigers, man, this kind of ruins a really good season.”

Of course, as with any time that Charles Barkley makes a fool of himself on television, fans were quick to call him out.

“The SEC is so fraudulent. Let’s all laugh at Charles Barkley and his Auburn Tigers 😂,” one fan tweeted.

“Charles Barkley jinxed Auburn. He was talking too much mess to @ClarkKelloggCBS about his team not being in the tournament this year. Now both of their teams are fishing,” said another.

Well, Charles, you played yourself. And now your beloved Auburn Tigers are headed home.
