Earlier today Empire actor Jussie Smollett was arrested for suspicion on making a false report after police contend that he paid two brothers $3,500 to stage an attack on him last month because he was unhappy with his pay on the show and wanted to promote his career.

As authorities laid out their case against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, the narrative that emerged Thursday sounded like that of a filmmaker who wrote, cast, directed and starred in a short movie.

Prosecutors said Smollett gave detailed instructions to the accomplices who helped him stage a racist, anti-gay attack on himself, including telling them specific slurs to yell, urging them to shout “MAGA country” and even pointing out a surveillance camera that he thought would record the beating.

Police said Smollett planned the hoax because he was unhappy with his salary and wanted to promote his career. Before the attack, he also sent a letter that threatened him to the Chicago studio where “Empire” is shot, police said.

While the allegations made against Smollett are extremely serious Charles Barkley, who has no filter, fired off some jokes at Smollett’s expense.

Barkley even went on to joke about how Smollett should have go ‘Liam Neeson’s neighborhood”, referring to Neeson’s comments about wanting to kill a “black bastard” he made during an interview a few weeks afo.

People seemed to be amused by Barkley’s comments.
