Kansas City could be in the market for another playmaker following some recent activity. The Chiefs restructured star tight end Travis Kelce’s contract this week, freeing up some room in the books.

NFL insider Field Yates reported Tuesday that the restructuring will open up $3.455M in cap space.

The Chiefs have restructured the contract of All Pro TE Travis Kelce, converting base salary into a signing bonus to clear $3.455M in cap space, per source.

With that extra money now available, Kansas City could look to make a midseason move to further bolster their roster.

After seeing the Kelce contract news, Chiefs fans hope to make a deal with the Panthers, who could be looking to offload a number of stars.

Carolina has struggled to a 1-5 overall record, leading to the firing of head coach Matt Rhule. There have been a myriad of issues following that dismissal, most recently, the temper tantrum thrown by wideout Robbie Anderson.

Interim coach Steve Wilks kicked the pass catcher out of the game following an argument with the coaching staff on the sidelines, and Anderson was traded shortly after the loss.

Now, it seems the team could offload more talent, beginning a rebuild in Charlotte. With Kansas City possibly in search of playmakers, Carolina could be a potential trade suitor.

Take a look at what fans are saying online.

Many are pointing at wideout DJ Moore. Moore ranks second on the team in receiving with 20 catches and 204 yards. The former first round pick could add another pass catching option for Patrick Mahomes, helping make up some of the lost production of traded superstar Tyreek Hill.

Others have another target in mind, though. They want to see Christian McCaffrey in KC. The Panthers have revealed their asking price for the versatile running back, which includes multiple first-round picks.

Carolina is open to listening. Would the Chiefs be willing to match the lofty cost of attaining CMC?

Then again, it could be a defensive star that Kansas City is looking for, and linebacker Brian Burns fits the bill. The edge rusher has recorded 24 tackles and four sacks through six games this season.

Whatever the case, it appears the Chiefs are going to make some sort of move very soon.
