Clay Matthews Surprises A Deserving Dad With Super Bowl ’16 Tickets For Father’s Day–And I Hope My Dad Likes These Socks

Dads are sweet. Nothing like a good dad. I’m probably going to be a shitty one considering I can hardly take control of my own life, but those are my demons. But my dad’s pretty legit, and I hope he realizes that I love him more than these socks I got on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx. He’s taught me invaluable life lessons like “be good to your mom” and “stop stealing from my liquor cabinet.” Love you, dad.

On top of providing opportunities and life lessons for their children, some dads have added responsibilities that are spurred from unfortunate events. Take Bill, a die-hard Green Bay Packers dad featured in the below video, for instance. On top of being a father of four seemingly responsible, grounded kids, Bill has been caring for his wife who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body.

First-hand accounts from his wife and kids suggest that Bill selflessly and optimistically keeps the family ship afloat. So when Courtyard launched a campaign looking for a deserved dad and a die-hard football fan to send to Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco, his son immediately entered his father.

And who better to deliver the good news than All-Pro linebacker, Clay Matthews? Check out the heartwarming video below and let me know how it ends because it was tough to see with tears in my eyes.

Happy Father’s Day to all you good men.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
