ESPN’s advanced stats-prognostication system does not believe the Cavs will win the NBA championship this season. According to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index (BPI), the Cavs’ title chances are now at slim 0.1 percent chance.

For comparison’s sake, the system currently has the Raptors as the favorite in the East at 26.6 percent and the Rockets as the overall favorites to win the NBA championship at 34.1 percent.

ESPN’s NBA BPI Playoff Odds estimate the likelihood for each team to make the playoffs and win the NBA title.

The BPI Playoff Odds are based on ESPN’s NBA Basketball Power Index (BPI), a measure of team strength developed by the ESPN Analytics team.

Each day, the season is simulated 10,000 times, according to BPI and the remaining schedule for each team.

Cleveland has the fourth-highest odds in the East, also behind Boston (4.5 percent) and Philadelphia (0.7 percent). Despite ESPN’s grim projection for LeBron’s squad Vegas is still giving the Cavs a 7 percent chance of winning the NBA championship on the betting market.

Personally, I believe any team with LeBron James should probably automatically be given a 10 percent chance of winning the NBA championship but that’s just me.
