As college football bowl season quickly approaches, the ever-exhausting debate is being had amongst talking head about whether there are too many bowl games. The answer, of course, is no.
Bowl games serve as an extra opportunity to get live reps against a quality opponent, there should never be a complaint about more football, and if a player doesn’t want to play, he can opt out of the game. It’s a no-brainer. Bowl season is awesome.
In addition to the practical reasons, some bowl games often offer opportunity for players to travel somewhere cool, like the Bahamas, and there is always fun to be had as a team during bowl week. There are also a lot of swag giveaways involved.
For the participants in various bowls, the game’s sponsors team up to give each player some sort of gift bag for playing. Vendors will hand out anything from sunglasses, to video game consuls, to a dopp kit.
And, in some cases, a bowl game will invite players to a “gift suite.” Once there, the players are given an order form and allowed to shop for an item, or items, up to a total value of $550 per person.
This year, after the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled quite a few bowl games, there is more money than ever for giveaways.
