College Football Game Devolves Into Chaos As Massive Hailstorm Forces Fans To Run For Cover

Akron went up big on Western Michigan during the first half of Saturday’s college football game in Kalamazoo. It quickly devolved into chaos when a massive hailstorm wreaked havoc on the region.

#MACtion was in full effect as fans ran from the chunks of ice that fell from above.

The Broncos took over on offense, down 17-0, shortly after the start of the second quarter. As they tried to set up for a 1st-and-10 from their own 41-yard-line, the sky opened up. Clouds that looked harmless on an overcast, 65-degree day suddenly and unexpectedly unleashed their fury on the game below.

Player were forced to endue a steady shower of dime-sized hailstones as a layer of pellets covered the field around them. Play continued despite the unusual weather.

Although the random storm slowly turned to rain, the barrage of ice did not come to a complete stop. Hail continued on and off throughout the second quarter as utter mayhem proceeded to unfold.

Western Michigan elected to punt after getting stopped on third down, which quickly became a touchdown in its favor. Akron could not field the kick in the strange weather conditions and a fumble was recovered by the kicking team in the end zone for six points.

If a muffed punt touchdown in the hail wasn’t already wild enough, the Zips turned the ball over just three plays later on yet another fumble. And not just any fumble! Multiple different players on both teams had an opportunity to recover the loose ball before the Broncos eventually fell on it.

All of this happened just moments after the skies unleashed fury on the #MACtion below. Perhaps it was Western Michigan who summoned the college football gods to shake up the energy with some wacky weather. The Broncos actually went into the locker room at halftime with a lead!
