Thanks to Florida not covering against Vanderbilt last weekend, our winning streak is no more when it comes to our college football locks of the week. After a sizeable spread in the SEC handed us an L last week, we’re jumping right back into the SEC and circling another game with a pretty large spread when you look at these two teams.

College Football Lock Of The Week: LSU vs. Texas A&M

Kick-Off: Saturday, Nov. 28, 7:00 PM EST on ESPN

The Pick: LSU +14.5

LSU is not a good football team, there’s no denying that. The Tigers lost to Auburn by 37 points just a few weeks ago and lost to Missouri earlier in the season. While LSU may be bad, are we really sure Texas A&m is good enough to be gifting the defending national champs 14.5 points? I don’t believe so.

Texas A&M is playing the best football it has since Jimbo Fisher took over the program, but this is still a team you can’t fully trust to come out and make a statement against a mediocre LSU squad. On top of that, A&M hasn’t played a football game in three weeks. With all the momentum the Aggies had going, it’s tough to keep that rolling when you haven’t hit a guy in a different helmet in almost a month.

It’s not like the Tigers come into this one hot, but they did get the job done at Arkansas last weekend and freshman QB TJ Finley looked in control throwing for 271 yards and two touchdowns. LSU still has weapons on the outside and in the backfield as well and if it can protect the ball it can control the tempo of the game. Control it enough to cover, that is, in no way will LSU win on Saturday, but it will cover.

LSU may be 3-3 on the year, but it’s still averaging over 450 yards per game. A&M’s defense has been able to slow pretty much every opponent down this season, but I don’t see the Aggies completely controlling this game, at least not until late in the contest with LSU within 14 points at the final whistle.
