An opponent gave Deion Sanders and Colorado some unneeded motivation ahead of a big-time matchup. Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell threw shade at Coach Prime just days before a rivalry meeting.

Colorado entered this week as a major favorite against instate foe Colorado State, referenced by a 23.5-point betting line. That point spread has only grown following the disrespectful comments.

On Thursday, clips of Norvell calling out Sanders began circulating social media. While previewing the upcoming Rocky Mountain Showdown, the head coach took a shot at Coach Prime’s character.

“When I talk to grownups, I take my hat and glasses off, that’s what my mother taught me,” Norvell said.

It didn’t take long for Sanders to respond, cryptically replying to the jab on his social media outlets.

“It’s personal again,” the head coach posted about the added ammunition for the upcoming matchup. Norvell marks the third straight opponent to give Colorado off-field motivation, joining TCU and Nebraska.

It didn’t work out well for that previous pair, but Jay Norvell is hoping for a different result.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to have the support of the sports world.

Immediately following those comments, the Colorado – Colorado State betting line shifted in favor of Coach Prime’s bunch. The point spread has now grown to 24 as bettors rush to the sportsbooks to back the Buffs.

Colorado has earned the respect of the gambling world, posting a perfect 2-0 record ATS. They won outright as a 21-point road underdog against the Horned Frogs before destroying the Cornhuskers as a 3.5-point favorite.

The Colorado State line will likely be the largest the Buffs see as a favorite this season, but it’s obviously not scaring off college football bettors.
