Colorado athletic director Rick George sent a mass email to the entire student body and staff on Thursday afternoon that could jinx Deion Sanders. It is a lose-lose situation.

George, who hired Coach Prime during the offseason, has already seen the move pay off in ways that he never could have imagined. College GameDay has been on site. Big Noon Kickoff has been on site twice. Every home game is sold-out for the first time ever. The city has seen huge financial gain.

And that doesn’t include the on-field results.

The Buffaloes won just one game last season. They were expected to win 3.5 this season.

Through four games as head coach at Colorado, Deion Sanders is 3-1.

His team will face its biggest test of the year on Saturday when reining Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and the No. 8-ranked USC pulls into town. It is going to be bonkers in Boulder.

Should the 21.5-point underdogs pull off the upset, it would be a difficult task to keep the Buffaloes in the stands from storming the field. Fans stormed Folsom Field after wins over Nebraska and Colorado State. They did it twice already. They will certainly do it again after a win over the Trojans.

George hopes not, so he sent the following email:

I ask you to refrain from entering the field after games. Although “rushing the field” has long been a college football tradition, in recent years, many schools and conferences are cracking down on the practice, as it greatly jeopardizes the safety of players, coaches, staff and other fans. Rushing the field is in violation of University and Pac-12 regulations.

Unfortunately, after both of our first two home games, we received an inordinate number of complaints regarding fan conduct (especially student conduct), and after both of our home game victories, students and fans “rushed the field.” Such conduct is unacceptable and I ask you to please refrain from such behavior for any future events.

Unfortunately for George, it’s a lose-lose.

If Colorado beats USC, the fans are going to rush the field. No ifs, ands or buts. And sending an email asking 18/22-year-old students not to do something will only make them want to do it more.

If Colorado does not beat USC, then George jinxed the win by sending an email about field storming. He immediately becomes the goat.

George jinxed the Buffs.
