The Indianapolis Colts used the 52nd pick in the second round of the NFL Draft to select wide receiver Adonai ‘AD’ Mitchell out of Texas.

Mitchell is supremely talented, but according to some, fell in the draft due to “character concerns.”

That didn’t sit well with Colts general manager Chris Ballard, who ripped into local media after a question about what’s “missing” with Mitchell.

“I read some of the b——- that was said. I mean just the typical f——, excuse my language, our typical league,” Ballard said. “Unnamed sources, you know, bad interview, that’s such b——-. I mean it f—— is. It’s b——-. Put your name on it. We tear these young men down. These are 21, 22-year-old men and if people out there can tell me they’re perfect in their lives, it’s crap. It’s crap. This is a good kid. For those reports to come out, I said it last year, it’s b——-. I’m sorry. I apologize for the language. I don’t, but I do.”

Mitchell won a pair of national championships with the Georgia Bulldogs in 2021 and 2022 before transferring to Texas prior to the 2023 season.

With the Longhorns, he broke out to become one of the nation’s top receiving threats. Mitchell caught 55 passes for 845 yards and a team-high 11 touchdowns this past season.

Now he heads to Indianapolis where he’s likely to be one of the top options for second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Only time will tell whether alleged “character concerns” rear their head in the NFL. But for the time being, it’s clear that Mitchell has the full support of everyone in the Colts’ organization.
