For some reason, after winning in his return to the octagon at UFC 246, Conor McGregor decided that on Martin Luther King Day in America he would give President Trump a shout out on Twitter.
“It was exactly three years ago today, January 20, 2017, that I was sworn into office. So appropriate that today is also MLK jr DAY. African-American Unemployment is the LOWEST in the history of our Country, by far. Also, best Poverty, Youth, and Employment numbers, ever. Great!” Trump wrote on Twitter on Monday.
To which McGregor replied, “Phenomenal President. Quite possibly the USA 🐐 [GOAT]. Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him. No easy feet. [sic] Early stages of term also. Incredible. Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day America.”
Trump continued the circle of love by tweeting back to McGregor, “Congratulations on your big @UFC WIN!”

Quite a turnaround in opinion for McGregor since in 2015 he said “Donald can shut his big fat mouth. I don’t give a f**k about Donald Trump.”
To hear that “The Notorious One” is a big fan of Donald Trump these days, however, is not really all that suprising.
After all, Trump once wrote in his book The Art of the Deal, “One thing I’ve learned about the press is that they’re always hungry for a good story, and the more sensational the better. If you are a little different, or a little outrageous, or if you do things that are bold or controversial, the press is going to write about you. And “good publicity is preferable to bad, but from a bottom-line perspective, bad publicity is sometimes better than no publicity at all. Controversy, in short, sells.”
Sounds like a page right out of McGregor’s playbook.
As one would expect, McGregor’s lavish praise for Donald Trump was not received well by many fight fans.

Conor McGregor just lost a fan, and the #MMA/@ufc just lost a customer.

Unfollowed. I just routed you on brotha, but you defintely lost my support by calling Trump phenomenal. Ya know, my family migrated here from Ireland, and then the men went back to fight in the Easter Rising. Trump's immigration law diminishes asylum seakers. Disappointing 😖

Conor McGregor has:
>Smashed a man's phone
>Punched an old man
>Threw a dolly at a bus, sending people to the hospitalBut there are people in the replies saying supporting Trump is why they'll no longer be fans
