Ever heard of Chris van Heerden? If not, what he had to say about Conor McGregor’s chances against Floyd Mayweather, are well-worth hearing because he is a former IBO welterweight champion. Oh yeah, he was also McGregor’s sparring partner at one time.

Chris van Heerden says that not only will Mayweather win the fight, he will dominate McGregor. Why does he say that? Because he has been in the ring with McGregor himself, back in 2016, and he did exactly that.

Reports TMZ Sports

The 29-year-old professional fighter stepped in the ring with Conor in May 2016 to spar for a few rounds — and dominated the UFC star.

And to rub salt in the wound, van Heerden says he was out of shape and had just gotten back from vacation when around the time of the sesh … and still “landed at will” on McGregor.

We asked straight-up if Conor has the knockout power to beat Floyd, van Heerden’s response — “No.”

Here’s some video of McGregor sparring with van Heerden…

“It’s crazy, I read all these posts where people say Mayweather’s gonna have his hands full landing on Conor because of Conor’s skill and footwork and movement,” van Heerden told TMZ Sports. “I’m no Mayweather and — out of camp, out of shape — I landed (punches) on Conor McGregor at will.

“It’s crazy to think people can actually compare a fighter that’s 0-0 in a boxing ring compared to a legend that’s 49-0 and has beaten the best and best in the world.”

As far as why he doesn’t think McGregor has the punching power to stop Mayweather? “He’s been hit by guys that can punch, and he didn’t go down. He knows how to recover,” says van Heerden.

Surely McGregor has improved his boxing skills a lot in the past 13 months, especially based on the plethora of training videos he’s shared, but van Heerden still isn’t having it.

Not that it really matters in the long run to McGregor. He’ll come out the fight both filthy rich as well as still king of the hill in the UFC so really, even if he loses, he still wins.
