Corey Seager just wrapped up one of the best offensive seasons by a shortstop in MLB history. In his second year with the Texas Rangers, the infielder led the league in doubles while setting or tying career-highs in homers and runs batted in.
His performance was a huge reason for Texas’s World Series title, the Rangers’ first in franchise history.
Over the course of the season, Seager hit a team-high .327 with 33 long balls. His success continued in Texas’s incredible playoff run that saw them post a 13-4 postseason record as a wildcard team, including a spotless 11-0 away from home.
During that October run, the shortstop hit .318 with 12 RBIs to land MVP honors.

Unfortunately, instead of being able to celebrate the present during the championship festivities, he was asked a question about the past.
“I’m going to ask you the question that I get texted most,” a reporter said in the postgame press conference. “Why did the Dodgers let you go?”
Visibly peeved, Seager just shook his head, giving no response.

Fans immediately commented on the awkward interaction.
“Corey Seager just won his 2nd WS MVP but this guy has to answer his text messages…”
“That was a terrible thing to ask right there.”
“In the words of Bryce Harper, ‘That was a clown question, bro.'”
“Another prime example of why reporters get blasted consistently… He’s a Ranger, stop asking about the Dodgers.”
Seager played in Los Angeles for the first seven years of his career. With the Dodgers, he won Rookie of the Year in 2016, made a pair of All-Star Games, and hit a collective .297 at the dish.
He turned down a $250M extension in 2021 which led LA to sign Trea Turner. Seager would then get a massive $325M offer from the Rangers.
It’s certainly worked out nicely for the WS MVP.
