Damian Lillard took exception to comments by former NFL QB turned ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky made after the Blazers superstar said he would sit out games if the NBA season returns and his team didn’t have a realistic chance to make the playoffs.
On Thursday’s episode of Get Up, Orlovsky criticized Lillard over his stance about sitting out and called him a “spoiled and entitled brat.”
What we’ve experienced over the past three months has taught us anything, there is no such thing as meaningless anymore,” Orlovsky said. “We can’t take things for granted anymore. And there’s a difference between have to and get to. And Damian Lillard would have the opportunity to get to play basketball again. Because there’s people out there who have to go do things— frontline workers and nurses and doctors. They have to go to work and they have to work more hours and pay less because of what we’re dealing with. Damian Lillard would have the opportunity to get to play basketball and I would hope and challenge him in his mindset that the last few months has changed that and that he’d take that opportunity to go and perform— to go and compete and get the opportunity to play basketball again. Some people don’t have a choice anymore. They have to go do things. It is not an option.”
Dame saw Orvlosky’s comments and ripped the ESPN analyst to shreds.

Orvlosky eventually apologized to Lillard for his comments.
And that’s why I told you I was wrong to say that. 100% on me and you have my public apology. I shouldn’t have said that. I can’t speak for anyone but me but I’m sorry, that’s my bad, and I was wrong.
