Dan Lanning hosted a number of high-profile college football recruits at Oregon over the weekend. He was filmed on the streets of Eugene while chauffeuring the potential future Ducks in his vintage Ford Bronco.
The custom vehicle cost him more than $250,000!
Lanning, in his fourth season as the college football coach at Oregon, agreed to a contract extension that increased his salary to approximately $11 million per year in March. Money is no object. However, the 39-year-old did not quite realize how much he was going to spend on a new set of wheels until he was presented with the bill and asked to sign the dotted line.
With the spring practice period coming to a conclusion, the Ducks invited a number of top recruits on an official visit. Among them were five-star safety Jett Washington (the nephew of Kobe Bryant), four-star linebacker Nick Abrams, five-star defensive back Elbert Hill, and five-star pass-rusher Richard Wesley.
Dan Lanning drove them around in his Bronco!
It just so happened to be a beautiful weekend in Eugene, which allowed Lanning to take his custom Bronco out of the garage and to pop the top. He was spotted out in public with a pair of recruits along for the ride.
Dan Lanning spoke about his new vehicle on an episode of Bussin’ With The Boys. He paid $280,000 for a 1974 Ford Bronco from Vintage Broncos. It is tricked out with all of the bells and whistles. The guy who bought won before him was LeBron James— so the sticker price was still a little bit of a shock.
Chau Nguyen is the founder of Vintage Broncos. He actually went to the University of Oregon.
Lanning first got in touch with Nguyen while at Georgia. It was his dream to one day buy a vintage Bronco from Vintage Broncos so they stayed connected over these past few years. The monster pay raise must’ve been the catalyst to pull the trigger on his dream car. Or maybe it is his secret recruiting tool!
