It appears that the UFC plans to compete with boxing on Mexican Independence Day every year.

On Saturday night, the UFC held its first “Noche UFC’ card featuring a title bout between Alexa Grasso Vs Valentina Shevchenko on Mexican Independence Day, and it was a resounding success.

According to Dana White, Noche was the most watched UFC fight night on ESPN Plus of all-time with 1.1 million unique views and generated 167 million total minutes of watch time on the app.

Even though Mexican Independence Day is considered “Canelo Day,” White plans to hold an event on that date every year going forward.

“I will go that date every year, I don’t care if someone here in town gets the date at the arena, I’ll go to the opposing arena and go head to head with them next year. I’m doing this for the rest of my reign here. They can go on the same night , we can go head to head, I’m going.”
